A ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTIONS

Who Made the First Furniture?

Furniture can defined as movable items that are used to make a room suitable for living in. People have made furniture since the Neolithic period. Excavations in Skara Brae, Orkney, Scotland uncovered a settlement dating to 3215 BC. Each abode had evidence of stone furniture such as cupboards, beds, and seating.

Our Furniture is somewhat more modern from some of the UK's leading and most well known manufacturers.

Who invented the couch?

Some say the Couch was invented in 1895 by a man by the name of Jay Wellingdon Couch. As a young boy Jay always wished he had more out of his chair. Yes, he found it comfy, and the pillows were placed correctly, but he couldn't lie down and sleep on it. And since Jay did not have a bed for he was poor he always had to sleep strapped to the wall. Henceforth, Jay invented the couch, which he first called the "Longer than a Chair, but not quite as big as a bed, but you can still sleep on it in a comfortable manner, yet you can sit up because it has a back" 3 weeks later, Jay passed away while flossing. His family and friends didn't love him anyway. They took all the credit for his invention and didn't feel he was important enough to have a funeral so they just stuffed him and used him as door mat. Later they decided to use his skin as a cover for the couch and sold millions of them. BUT! we are not sure if this is true

A more likely, but less interesting answer is that the name comes from the old French coucher meaning to lie down.

The earliest examples have been found in tombs dating as far back as 2680 B.C” It was not until the 16th century that chairs became common. Until then, people sat on chests, benches, and stools, which were the ordinary seats of everyday life. The number of chairs which have survived from an earlier date is exceedingly limited; most examples are of ecclesiastical or seigneurial origin.
